Our Story

We believe that reading creates a brighter future for every kid – this is why we founded BOOKR Kids.

Our story started in 2015 when our founders Dorka Horvath and Dani Karanyi noticed the lack of quality children’s literature available digitally. Their technical backgrounds in publishing, new media and advertising gave them the vision and expertise to create BOOKR Kids – the innovative, easy-to-use interactive digital book app.

BOOKR Kids sparks curiosity in children inspiring them to read. The app is packed with fun, interactive stories enriched with animation, narration, text-highlighting and educational games. We want children to enjoy a truly rewarding reading experience.

After rocketing to success with our library app, we wanted children to have even more choice so we launched digital publishing services in 2016 – a complete digitisation solution for international publishers wanting to make the leap into the digital world. Among our first clients were Albatros Media (Czech Republic), Kindermann Verlag (Germany) and Albert Whitman & Co (USA).

Exciting research in 2018 proved that BOOKR Kids’ unique format held children’s attention for an unusually long period of time. So we decided to focus on education. Our apps now inspire more than 200 000 children to read and learn in countries like the United States, the United Arab Emirates, Greece, Spain, Turkey, Germany, Singapore.

It’s been quite a journey… Over these last few years, we’re really proud to have won numerous awards ranging from Toy of the Year to Central European Startup Awards.
