What is the future of paper-based children books in the age of ebooks? Will they be replaced completely by digital solutions? How does it affect the current young generations?
Nowadays it is clear that we are becoming more and more digitalized in each aspects of our lives. We use our phone for everything and sometimes we even call somebody but usually Messenger, Skype and the others work just fine. There is no problem with this until we are aware of how it affects our everyday life. As an adult we are in a good position, we can learn more about these topics anytime thanks to awesome TED talks and articles.
Just to mention an example let’s take Facebook. Haven’t we all seen people constantly checking it? Or scrolling through the News Feed ourselves without realizing that we just wasted our time? Facebook connects the world and it is great at it, they really try their best. However they are a company. They have a business model based on ads. Not surprisingly they do everything to keep you on their site because this is how they make money. Once you are aware of this you can act more deliberately.
At the same time as a child, you grow up today without realizing these effects, because there is no education on these topics. Children build their habits anyway but it makes a difference if they know about these or not. When these young generations grow up without knowing how the online world influenced their lives it will be really hard for them to wake up and realize that most of their habits should go to the trash. We can’t let this happen. We need to make sure that our education follows our innovative world.
At BOOKR Kids, we believe that we can build the right platform to ensure children’s first touch with the digital world in a way that they will build the right relationship with it. Paper books will always be great and unique, we don’t want to change that. We digitalize children books not because we want to replace ones from paper but because this is the technology which is able to educate young generations for the world of today.
